Here’s a quick thought for you. Well, first a quick task followed by a quick thought. Okay, first, select your favorite search engine and search the word: Legacy. Now, if the majority of your results are related to the financial assets you leave behind then you are not alone. But this is a deeply flawed and misinformed definition of legacy. Your legacy, although affected by your assets (possessions) do not define in totum your legacy. I find the following definition a bit more all-inclusive and encompassing,

We all know those people. The ones who balked at your advice, in spite of your urgent pleading and maybe in some cases actual begging. Of course these people mean well, the cautious personality type is incredibly important in balancing our world. But I’m not referring to the self-aware overly cautious individual. (No, this person well knows they have deep troubles with change and decision-making and have come to terms with the consequences for following their instincts.) These self-aware people have a long history of successes to be able to point to in the past where their calm, rational, methodical non-action ended up being the smartest action. No, I’m referencing instead those individuals who hear your entreaties and respond with a balking reticence like a child to their vegetables - while lamenting they didn’t enter sooner and now is “too late” to take action.

Nearly everyone I talk to is stressing over the current economy, the markets, the inflation, and the government. The list goes on and on. Emotions and tension seem to be at nearly an all-time high while the mainstream media discusses the “soft landing” (side note: I’m incredibly tired of the reused clichés constantly trumpeted by these talking heads) they hope will help the general everyday person (you and me). This morning the CPI indicated a a fresh 40-year high in May. We see this reflected in our every day expenses, like gasoline (national average approaching $5 a gallon 🤯), and many other “staples.”

Something about tonight’s crypto activities brings to mind a thought about a different night with far more severe and devastating consequences. Of course tonight would be considered a mere shadow by comparison to this fateful night in history, but I am thinking about April 15, 1912. That’s right, we just recognized the 110th anniversary of perhaps one of the most well-known tragedies of modern time. I refer, of course, to the sinking of the Titanic.

Today’s thought comes courtesy of the latest hot news topic everyone is talking about. Or should I say, tweeting about. Yeah, I’m referring of course to the “hostile” takeover buyout of Twitter by Elon Musk, the world’s richest individual.

I’m most certainly giving away both my age as well as at least a small insight into my former television watching self when I write the following sentence. Not a single time goes by that I don’t hear the expression “weakest link” and immediately, instantly, and without fail I am transported to a game show with a bitingly, sharp British host. Her pinched features mixed with her intensely superior disdain for the contestants rings loudly in my ears, “You ARE the weakest link, Goodbye.” Her utter disgust for the snivelingly stupid contestant now removed from her game hangs in the air long after the scorned participant has left the stage.

If you’re into the stock market or day trading like the countless others recovering from years trapped inside with no outlet for entertainment, then you’re more than likely aware about the recent news surrounding Netflix and their stock price plummeting.

No, I’m not referring to the controversial, seemingly-always-in-the-news cryptocurrency, Ripple. Surprising for my thinking and daily thoughts I know this.

I tend to think the lofty aspirations of interplanetary colonization are far more important and worthy of time spent in thought than sitting on the board of a social media company intent on capping ownership by percentages.
